We enter a busy period in Parish life as we approach Easter… Highlights for March include the Confirmation Service, our Cathedral Sunday, the Queen’s visit to the Cathedral, and, of course, Holy Week and Easter Day.. Please endeavour to attend where possible and play your part in the life and work of our Parish!
CHRISTIAN AID LUNCHES continue in 1st Cookstown Presbyterian Hall on Friday 7th & 14th from 12 to 2pm.
OUR LENTEN SERVICES continue on Wednesday 5th and 12th at 7pm as we look at issues in “The Hard Gospel”.
THE MOTHERS’ UNION DINNER will be held on Thursday 6th in the Otter Lodge.
The 3rd LENTEN TALK in the series also takes place on the 6th in Gortalowry House at 8pm.
THE WOMEN’S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER SERVICE will be held this year in the Methodist Church on Friday 7th at 8pm.
THE CONFIRMATION SERVICE will feature 15 young people from Derryloran and 6 from Altedesert confirming their Baptismal Promises on Sunday 9th at 11am. Please remember these young people and support them by your attendance on this special occasion!
PALM SUNDAY (16th) sees us undertaking a new venture as clergy, choir and congregation travel to Armagh for the 11am Service in the Cathedral, followed by lunch in the City Hotel. There will be a service in Derryloran at 11.30am for those unable to travel – Holy Communion 1 (said) conducted by Canon Noel Moore.
At 7pm we share in a service of “Palm Sunday Praise” as we focus on the meaning of this special season.
HOLY WEEK (17th-21st) will have as its theme “The Passion through the eyes of St John” as we examine his account of Jesus’ suffering each evening from Monday 17th to Good Friday at 7.45pm in church.
ST PATRICK’S DAY (17th) will be observed with our usual service of Holy Communion at 10.30am.
The MOTHER’S UNION CORPORATE COMMUNION SERVICE will be held on Maunday Thursday (20th) at 7.45pm.
The GOOD FRIDAY CHILDREN’S SERVICE takes place on the 21st in church at 10.30am when our Youth Organisations attend in uniform.
EASTER DAY SERVICES on the 23rd are as follows: 6am ADYC Dawn Service at the Argory; 9am Holy Communion; 11.30am Easter Communion; 7pm “Easter Praise” and Renewal of Baptismal Vows. Do make it a special day by attending our services!
The ANNUAL EASTER VESTRY will be held on Tuesday 1st April at 8pm when the important triennial elections will be held. Please endeavour to attend!
