Parochial life during May suddenly becomes much quieter and gives leaders a break from the busy-ness of leadership.

We welcome our new Church Wardens – Messrs Ron Griffin (Rector’s) and Raymond Bradford (People’s) - and wish them an enjoyable year in service.

The other Triennial Appointments will be carried in the next edition of “Derryloran News”.

Those newly appointed took part recently in a Rural Deanery Service of Commissioning in St John’s, Moneymore, and enjoyed a most challenging service, followed by a sumptuous supper in the Parish Hall.

Derryloran Parish Hall was the venue for the Northern Ireland Cubs’ Table Quiz with participants from all over the Province participating – a great day for all concerned!

Dates for May include the following:

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK begins on 11th May with a Praise Service at 7pm in Derryloran, featuring choirs and items from the various churches in the district. This service highlights the importance of the Week and we would encourage a good attendance!

THE CHURCH FORUM presents an Evening with Paul Clarke in the Burnavon on Monday 12th at 8.15pm – tickets available at the Box Office.

ST MATTHIAS’ DAY will be observed with Holy Communion on Wed 14th at 10.30am.

MOTHERS’ UNION: THE OUTING will be on Tuesday 20th to the Grand Opera House for a performance of “Calamity Jane” – details of which will be announced in Church.

We welcome those recently appointed to office – Doreen Hodgett (Enrolling Member), Carol McVitty (Secretary) and Hilda McKinney (Treasurer). – and wish them well is their respective posts. We thank all outgoing office-bearers, especially those who have given 6 years service in post!

The Diocesan Festival Service will be held on Thursday, 22nd March at 8pm in the Cathedral, and once again the branch will be in attendance.

SPRING SCHOOL: the Rector will again be participating in this annual event from Mon 26th to Thur 29th which takes the group this year to The International Centre for Reconciliation at Coventry Cathedral. The Rev Matthew Hagan will be in charge while the Rector is away.
