As life in the Parish returns to its Autumn programme, we trust that everyone has had a refreshing break during the Summer.

CHURCH WORKER: As we look forward to the next few months, we bid a special welcome to Cristian Porre who will be joining us shortly as part of the SAMS overseas programme. Cristian will bring many gifts and talents from South America to his work as Church Worker in Derryloran.

LAY VISITATION TEAM: Over the summer months the Team has been preparing to ‘get going’ in the Parish. Access NI checks have been completed and the Commissioning Service will be held on Sunday 13th September at 11.30am.

SUMMER LIGHTS: The Childrens’ Holiday Club in July proved a great success with over 100 children participating – the only problem being that the week went by too fast!

Parishioners will have noticed our new-look Church Notice Board which has been revamped in a most “outstanding” manner courtesy of Mr and Mrs Eric West – to whom our best thanks are due!

As we look to the future, please note the following services and events…

SUNDAY SCHOOL resumes on Sunday 13th Sept at 10am – and a warm welcome is given to all new pupils – and, of course, to the familiar faces.

THE CONFIRMATION CLASS will begin on Sunday 20th in the Vestry from 10am and a full turn out is requested of those wishing to be confirmed in 2010.

MOTHERS’ UNION: The season opens in September with a Bring and Buy Sale on Thursday 10th and the Rural Deanery Service in Moneymore on Wed 16th at 8pm.

DERRYLORAN TRAVEL CLUB sets out again – with Paris the destination from 22nd to 25th September with a party of 18 looking forward to the sights of this cosmopolitan city. Similar trips in recent years to Prague and Kracow were great successes!

THE ULSTER HISTORIC CHURCHES SOCIETY comes to Cookstown on Thursday 1st October, concluding their tour of the main churches with a visit to Derryloran and tea in Gortalowry House.

THE GATEWAY THEATRE comes to town in support of Derryloran once more on Sat. 3rd October to present the comedy HOLIDAY SNAP in Loughry College at 7.45pm. A great evening is guaranteed for all!

OUR HARVEST WEEKEND begins with the Youth Service on Friday 16th October at 7pm when the preacher will be the Rev Glenn West, Rector of Derryvullen North in Clogher Diocese – and better known as the son of Mr and Mrs Eric West.

Services continue on Sunday 18th at 9am and 11.30am, and then in the evening we welcome back a former Rector, Canon Michael Barton, who has recently retired after a long and distinguished ministry. Please plan to attend ALL these services!
