Already we are in the season of Lent and are planning for Easter...
LENT
: Our Lenten Services continue on Wednesday evenings at 7pm – on 10th, 17th and 24th March.
CHRISTIAN AID LUNCHES
continue in 1st Cookstown Presbyterian Hall from 12-2pm each afternoon during Lent – a lovely opportunity for Christians to come together, enjoy a soup lunch and support a wonderful charity!
ST PATRICK
: We celebrate St Patrick on Wed 17th March with services at 7pm (Lenten) and Holy Communion at 10.30am when the Rev Stephen Sheerin will bring greetings from the Methodist congregation.
HOLY WEEK
: This year we focus on “The 7 Words from the Cross” – beginning at 7pm as part of Palm Sunday Praise with the “Liturgy of the Palms”. Each evening at 8pm we will focus on the sufferings of Christ on the cross, concluding on Easter Sunday Evening.
EASTER DAY
: On Sunday 4th April we celebrate Easter with services at 9am, 11am and at 7pm with Easter Praise. Parishioners are encouraged to join in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ Jesus! WWDP – The annual Women’s World Day of Prayer Service will be held this year in Derryloran on Fri 5th March at 8pm when the preacher will be the Rev Diane Matchett, formerly our Church Worker and now Rector of Castlerock.
10CC”: This year’s Confirmation Class enjoyed “An Evening with TIPSAPSA” - Teenagers Involved in Protecting Selves around Alcohol and a visit to see the Belfast Giants at the Odyssey, before being confirmed by the Archbishop on 21st Feb, a truly memorable service for them!
MOTHERS’ UNION
: The branch continues its varied programme as follows:
a) Thur 4th Mar: Annual Dinner in the Parish Hall;
b) Sun 14th: Mothering Sunday Service at 11.30am with special input from members – and also the annual distribution of daffodils in aid of Cancer care.
c) Thur 1st April: Corporate Communion at 8pm in Church.
ADYCDYC
: Following up on the recent successful evening in Derryloran Hall, the Youth Council is hosting a Weekend in Fermanagh (23-25th April) at which the speaker will be Cristian, our Church-worker. Young people interested in going should contact the Rector.
DEDICATIONS
: a) The Rector recently dedicated the new railings and gates at the church in memory of Arthur Killips and Derek and Bobby Morton. They really do enhance the entrance to our lovely church and we are most grateful for them. b) On Sunday 25th April at 3.30pm we shall dedicate and lay up in the south transept Colours of the Royal Irish and Ulster Defence Regiments in acknowledgement and memory of those who served in the neighbourhood out of the base at Derryloran old school. The preacher will be the Very Revd JC Combe, formerly of the Diocese and Dean of Kilmore. Tea will be served afterward in the Parish Hall.
SAINTS’ DAYS
: We celebrate Holy Communion at 10.30am on the following occasions:- 17th and 25th March (St Patrick and the Annunciation). Refreshments are served following the service, and everyone is welcome!
HOLY LAND 2010
: There are a few seats left for our 10 day Pilgrimage to the Holy Land from 6th Sept 2010 departing from Belfast International taking in all the major sites – with 5 nights 4-star accommodation in Jerusalem and 4 in Tiberias in Galilee.
