The "Take a Bow" Archery Club held each Saturday in the Parish Hall has become popular with all age groups during the past few months. All age groups have been represented at the Saturday class. Numbers have increased steadily and we may have to think of extending the group to a slot during the week - but which night?
The Reverend John Ewart has found a new string to his bow and become very proficient with a new found skill - archery.
Different groups have also shown an interest and asked for "taster" sessions, including;
Congratulations to Debbie Arthur, Diane Arthur, Diane Larmour and Seamus Fitzpatrick on achieving their Leaders Awards at Kilmore Archery Club.
The Archery Club is growing from week to week, so much so that at present we have two sessions per Saturday - our younger archers practice from 10.00 to 11.00a.m. and our adult archers from 11.00 to 12.00 noon, so that both groups can have equal tuition and practising time. Our youngest archer so far has been only five and we will not divulge the age of our oldest participant.
Groups which have been willing to 'have a go' at archery have included Cookstown Methodist Mens' Group. Cookstown Army Cadets and Kildress Cub Scouts. This has been a good way for our newly qualified leaders to demonstrate their new found skills.
If you wish to 'have a go' come along at the appropriate time on Saturday morning and you will be made most welcome. The equipment is available and if you find you have a talent - well who knows, you might be the next archer to achieve a Leaders' Award.
To summarise - if there is any Derryloran parishioner out there who would like to "Have a Go - Take a Bow" - please contact either Sandra or Trevor Rollins - archery is a sport for all age groups.
