Prayer Calendar - IGLESIA ANGLICANA PARAGUAYA - May 2004
Col. 3:17 "Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the
name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
- Pray for the service at San Andres tomorrow & the time of reflection
& study after on ICP . Give thanks for pastor Agustin's improved health
& pray for him & Teresa as they concentrate on the ministry in San
Andres. For wisdom over priorities this year. Give thanks for financial help
received to work further on the restoration & development of the San
Andres Centre church building.
- Give thanks for the way God transformed many obstacles & difficulties
in the EJE Roque Alonso weekend into great blessings. Pray for two
(initially very uncooperative) young people who were the first to give
testimony to God's touch on their lives at the end of the weekend. For
Patrick & Rosie & their team in the follow up to the two EJE
weekends this April & others over the past years.
- Pray for the preparations for the EMA weekend - 7-9 May - for pastor Tony
& Chris & all the leadership team. Give thanks for so many couples
who have been encouraged by EMA & pray for those who will be taking part
this time. For all the practical details.
- Give thanks for Alison's ministry in Concepcion & the building up of
the young people's work. Pray for those who are learning the guitar &
for their participation in music ministry. Pray too for those who have
recently made a commitment to Christ, including two girls who were baptized
last month.
- Pray for a visit by Osvaldo & Dr. Marco to the Chaco, programmed for
today & tomorrow, to consult with Beryl Baker & consider long term
plans for medical care in the Chaco. Give thanks for this new interest in
indigenous welfare & pray for practical solutions to the enormous needs.
Pray for good relationships between community & church leaders in the
indigenous communities.
- Pray for God's protection & grace for the staff of the Diocesan Office
in their varied & busy work. For God to supply our financial needs,
especially with regard to vehicles & for his protection on the journeys
undertaken. Pray for Diocesan Treasurer Mags Southern & administrator
Teodosio Rivas.
- Pray for the EMA weekend as it begins tonight. For God's special
protection for the team members & for the smooth running of the
practical side of the programme. For children being cared for whilst their
parents attend the weekend.
- Pray for the effective co-ordination of Ed & Mari Brice's visits to
the Chaco communities with regard to adult leadership training & the
preparation of Sunday School materials. Pray for the translation of
appropriate materials in Enxet & Guarani. & for the provision of a
much needed vehicle for them in this rapidly developing ministry.
- Pray for the second Alpha course being led by the St. Andrew's
congregation. Give thanks that it is well attended & pray for an
openness to God's Holy Spirit. For the pastoral team as they combine this
ministry with their work in St. Andrew's School. Pray for Sarah & Phil
Groman & their children as they prepare to move to Ecuador with PLAN
International, giving thanks for their faithful support of the ministry at
St. Andrew's Church over several years.
- Pray for the Provincial meetings in Santiago, Chile this week. For God's
wisdom & discernment for the bishops of the Southern Cone & the
Provincial Executive Committee. For a significant advance in the growth of
relationships between the different dioceses.
- Pray for the staff & students of FEISA, giving thanks for the number
of students enrolled this year despite the economic recession. Give thanks
for a donation received to enable four very needy students a half
scholarship. Pray for the Evangelical University as it works out its
Statutes, giving thanks for the different denominations involved in the
faculties. Give thanks for Rupert & Samantha's safe return to Asuncion
& pray for wisdom over their documentation process.
- Pray for staff & pupils at St. Andrew's School, especially those
taking exams this month. For School Head Gwen Carlisle & the Senior
Management Team . Give thanks for Linn Tedman's steady recovery from surgery
& pray for wisdom over the date of her return to Paraguay.
- Pray for the congregation in Zeballos Cue, especially those with serious
health problems.- little José (cyst on neck), for María - (back problem),
Ester - (kidney stones). Pray for pastor Alberto in his demanding ministry,
giving thanks for steady church growth both in numbers & commitment.
- Pray for the nation of Paraguay as it celebrates Independence Day
tomorrow. For President Nicanor Duarte & his leaders as they attempt to
bring about reform in the country. Pray for increased communication between
government departments working in health.
- Pray for the church in Rio Verde. For the lay leaders & those who
visit regularly from Sombrero Piri & Asuncion. Pray that the Christians
might be united & firm in their witness in the town. Pray for Genaro
& Clorinda as they look after the Anglican Centre there &
participate in church life.
- Give thanks for the continuing work on the translation of the Old
Testament into Enxet. Pray for strength & concentration for Tim, Martin,
Asuncion & Juan & for God's protection on them, the buildings &
the equipment. Pray for too for each of the translators families.
- Pray for the children & staff at the Annexe School. Give thanks for
those who have been through the school in the past & have been able to
secure work to lift them put of the poverty trap.
- Pray that a significant internationally backed project for pre-school
education be approved by the Senate this month. It includes possible pilot
schemes in Anglican indigenous communities. Pray for the school teachers in
the different villages, especially that Christian teachers might be really
committed in their work & give a good testimony both to the pupils &
the authorities.
- Pray for the group from St. Andrew's School travelling to the Chaco today
to work for two days in the indigenous community of Yatnata & learn more
of the reality of life outside the cities. For Elvio Cabañas, the pastor of
Yatnata, as he meets with them & shares his faith & his culture. For
safety for the students on site & in travel.
- Ascension Day- Pray that the risen, glorified Lord Jesus might indeed be
Lord of the lives of the leaders & congregations in the Chaco, country
& cities. Give thanks for Cesar Guzman's visit last month & pray for
wisdom & discernment over those whom God is calling to do more
theological study in the Bible Seminary in Santiago.
- Pray for Phil Grainger & the volunteer teams coming to Paraguay in
July & August. For sufficient resources for fares & the building
needs here, including the need of a vehicle to be used primarily by Osvaldo
with indigenous patients who come to different city hospitals. There is
still no hospital in the Chaco.
- Pray for Bishop John & Judie visiting Concepcion & for the Bible
studies & reflection on ICP. For God's guidance over the need for a
municipal hostel in the city for indigenous people. Pray for Bishop Andres
& Estela & for the annexe churches in Tacuati, San Juan &
Yvypobo & their lay leaders. Give thanks for reconciliation between two
key families in Tacuati.
- Give thanks for the SEAN groups in Luque & pray for clear vision over
the next steps in leadership training. For perseverance in their witness in
the area around the church. For pastor Jorge & Rebeca & their family
& for God to raise up more leaders in youth & music ministry.
- Pray for the consolidating of links through EMA with the local
congregations. Give thanks for new families attending Villa Guarani &
pray for pastor Tony & Chris as they build up the leadership there. For
wisdom & resources to develop the newly acquired land adjacent to the
church building.
- Give thanks for the faithful visits by pastor Alberto to the congregation
in Formosa. Pray for wise decisions about future ministry in the city
between the two dioceses of Northern Argentina & Paraguay. Pray for
Hector, Pochi & Nora in their leadership.
- Pray for the united CALEB meeting today when pastors & leaders are
present from the Chaco & Concepcion. Give thanks for these opportunities
to share, pray together & learn more of each others different situations
& challenges.
- Pray for Bishop Andres as he visits the indigenous community of La Patria
this weekend. As a Paraguayan he often feels a barrier between him & the
deacons & other leaders because of the heritage from the past. Pray that
we may see cultural & historical barriers brought down by the power of
God's Holy Spirit at work amongst us.
- There is still a need for the right couple, either national or mission
partner, to head up the team in San Lorenzo. Pray "to the Lord of the
harvest......." Matt. 9:38
- Give thanks for the growing discipleship commitment in the congregation in
Roque Alonso. Pray for pastor Cefe & Ana together with pastor Luis &
Regina as they co-ordinate their ministries. For the annexe congregations in
El Mirador, Remansito & Quyquyho.
- Pentecost - Pray for the people & the means to extend our ministry
where we are being invited in to work, especially in indigenous &
campesino areas. Give thanks for many opportunities to follow up people who
have been challenged by the film "The Passion of Christ" &
pray for the Holy Spirit to bring them into a genuine commitment to Christ.
