Philippians 1:27 ".....stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel.."

  1. Pray for Bishop John & Judie as they visit Concepcion this weekend & also share with the congregation in Colonia San Juan. Give thanks for the lay leaders in San Juan - Don Toto & Aparicia- Pray for their encouragement & for more leaders to accompany them in their ministry. For the work amongst children in San Juan. Continue to pray for the family of missing child, Saul Romero & the congregation in Zeballos Cue as they support them. For Saul to be found.
  2. Give thanks for the recent Diocesan Synod in Asuncion which clearly showed how God has blessed us over the past two years and brought us closer together across the cultural & linguistic barriers. Praise God for his protection on Osvaldo Recalde & the leaders from La Patria during the accident on the way to the Synod & for the election of the new Diocesan Executive Committee. Pray for them & their families: Bishops John and Andres; pastors Cefe , Teodoro & Remigio; Miriam de Greco, Mags Southern (treasurer) & Alberto Cabañas.
  3. Give thanks for the recent computer course in the Chaco for the 3 Bible translators, led by Tito La Haye. Pray for Tito at a Bible Society course in the UK 6-9 Nov. Pray too for Martin, Asuncion & Juan as they improve their computer skills & their knowledge of Spanish. Pray for Tim Curtis & the funding needed for the translation project in 2004. For God's protection over all the people, buildings & equipment in the Anglican Centre in Rio Verde.
  4. There are still many church members who cannot find work to support their families. Pray for strength & perseverance for them & the opening up of new areas of work. Pray for the Paraguayan President & his government as they begin to expose corruption & bring to justice those involved.
  5. Give thanks for the generally good response in Paraguay to the Billy Graham Association TV evangelistic programme "Mi Esperanza". Pray for the follow up in all the local churches, that those who made a commitment will be drawn into Christian fellowship & teaching.
  6. There is a new government ruling regarding the revalidation of teaching degrees for new & already existing school and faculty staff members in Paraguay. Pray for God's wisdom & overruling in this as it affects us in both St. Andrew's School & in FEISA. For discussions on this matter between the members of the governing body of the interdenominational Evangelical University.
  7. Pray too for Mission Partners & volunteers who have recently arrived - Lisa Hall, Andy & Jo Persson with Ella, Natalie & Ruby as this new ruling also affects the granting of permanent residence documents. For patience & wisdom for all of us, especially Gwen Carlisle & Eileen Murphy as School Head & Faculty Dean respectively.
  8. Pray for the service at St. Andrew's Church tomorrow which includes prayers of thanksgiving remembering those who died in the Second World War. For a deep work of God's Holy Spirit in those who would not normally attend church services. For Stephen & Eileen Trew & the pastoral group, especially praying for the health of Eileen's mother & Sarah Groman's mother.
  9. Pray for Beryl Baker as she plans for training courses next year for indigenous health auxiliaries. Give thanks for finance promised to enable the men & women involved to provide for their families & pray that some may be able to obtain a government salary. Pray especially for Arsenio & Norma in Makxawaya, as they try to work through difficulties in their marriage & for their two children.
  10. Pray for bishop John, Ed Brice & pastor Alberto as they travel to Chile today to participate in a Chilean pastors' conference. For John as he shares with them about the Anglican Communion.
  11. Pray for the follow up of the good contacts made in the local school in Quyquyho & for the teacher who has become a Christian. For Osvaldo & María Luisa the lay leaders & for pastor Cefe & the team from Roque Alonso church who regularly visit & support the ministry there.
  12. Give thanks for the repairs safely carried out on the roof of San Andres Cathedral & for funds received for this first stage. Pray for the next part of the redevelopment as we look to the Lord to provide the resources needed.
  13. Give thanks for the many who responded to the "Mi Esperanza" evangelistic TV programme in Remansito. Pray for pastor Cefe & his team as they follow up these contacts & consolidate the ministry there. For the regular ministry amongst children.
  14. Pray for God's protection & wisdom for all the indigenous pastors in the different communities in the Chaco. Especially for the training of the 4 deacons in the very isolated La Patria community - Robert, Agripino, Niño & Mario. For bishop Andres as he regularly visits & shares with them.
  15. Pray for Patrick & Rosie & other leaders as they follow up the two EJE weekends. Give thanks for the large number of young people involved & for the way the two very different groups are able to relate. For another adult couple to work alongside the Butlers.
  16. Pray for bishop Andres & Estela & the team working in Concepcion. For the very diverse ministry amongst children & adolescents & for wisdom over the building up of the work in the city centre. Pray for pastor Guillermo as he continues his studies & as he & Rossi & the family open their home for meetings with children who live nearby. For adequate finance to cover Guillermo's stipend.
  17. For the annexe congregations in & around Concepcion & for the lay leaders in each place. Pray for Claire Holmes & Alison Crawford leading the ministry to children & adolescents & also training others. For God's grace & protection for all the team working in a city of great spiritual darkness.
  18. Give thanks for the steady commitment of the young people in the Formosa congregation. Pray for pastor Alberto as he regularly visits them & for wisdom over the plans to construct an indigenous hostel & new church centre. The economic situation in Northern Argentina is still very acute.
  19. Pray for Feliciano Ortega as he continues his course about drug & alcohol abuse & teaches in the Annexe School. For wisdom & vision in the development of out of school activities for children & their parents. For Sharon in her counselling ministry there amongst children with difficulties.
  20. Pray for God's protection on Christian marriages & for all the follow up meetings with couples who have participated in EMA weekends. For the integration of families into a church fellowship.
  21. Pray for the building up of the leadership in Villa Guarani church alongside pastor Tony & Chris & for the families who have recently started to attend. For God's continuing touch on Alex and Patrick who had health problems recently & for spiritual protection for the whole family.
  22. Pray for Tim Curtis as he takes his summer holiday break now. For real rest & refreshment both physically & spiritually after a busy year with the OT translation project. Pray too for strength & safety for the Mission Partners who are preparing for home ministry leave shortly.
  23. Pray for the primary staff & pupils at St. Andrew's School, as they give a choral presentation of "Joseph" next Friday. For all the school end of term activities & the opportunities these bring for contact with parents. For grace & strength for all school personnel ( teaching, administrative & maintenance) at St. Andrew's & the Annexe School as the academic term draws to an end.
  24. Pray for the congregation at San Andres in the centre of Asuncion as pastor Agustin completes his current theological studies. For wisdom as to the pastoral group to work alongside him & Teresa next year. For Olga & her children &for Miguel as he struggles with his alcohol addiction.
  25. Pray for Bishop John & the pastors & leaders as they meet today & tomorrow for an end of year retreat. Give thanks for the regular CALEB & Paso a Paso meetings which have both increased our unity & our biblical understanding. Pray that God will give us wisdom over the selection of younger Paraguayans who would benefit from further biblical studies.
  26. Pray for the pastors & lay leaders in Roque Alonso in the follow up to the TV evangelistic programme "Mi Esperanza" & the recent EJE weekend & for the annexe congregations in Mirador, Remansito & Quyquyho. For finance to cover a stipend for pastor Luis Echeverría as the law firm where he works closes down. There is a real need for a full time colleague for pastor Cefe in the diverse & demanding ministry in & through Roque Alonso church.
  27. Give thanks that rain has fallen in the Chaco & pray that it may continue to be sufficient for the crops being planted. Pray for the plans to grow cotton in some communities as a cooperative project, that this may be a success & give a much needed income for the families. Pray for God's wisdom for the indigenous leaders as they try to organize themselves more effectively.
  28. Pray for church members who are receiving pastoral counselling & prayer. There are many who come from dysfunctional & spiritually dark backgrounds & need guidance & deliverance from the past & the present. For the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives to bring order, forgiveness & hope.
  29. Pray for God's hand on the young people's event tonight taking place in San Andres church, called "Fuego" (Fire). For unity, vision & enthusiasm for those leading, that this may be a powerful opportunity to introduce their friends to the gospel of Jesus.
  30. Pray for pastor Jorge & the ministry in Luque & for the development of the work in San Lorenzo. Pray for Andy & Liz Cain, who recently did a placement in San Lorenzo, as they come to a SAMS Selection conference. For God's guidance for their future ministry.
