This year Derryloran Guides have been collectively working towards Disability Badge. This is to make each guide more aware of disability within their own age group as well as within older age groups and to be more considerate towards others, whose inability may not be visible.
Hopefully by the end of this guiding year all our guides may have gained this
particular badge.
So far this past nine weeks of guiding have seen some needlework, amazing and
not often seen in juggles, some cooking - jam tarts a speciality, captain ball,
participating in the Harvest Service, a Halloween party, joining with lst Loy
for a night of Mini-Olympics arranged by Naomi Ferguson, who is working towards
her Baden-Powell Award.
No Christmas Challenge this year, but a New Year Challenge is for the future. A Christmas Party is definitely on the cards and this will include the enrolment of five new guides, Cecilia, Laura, Lauren, Rebecca and Stephanie. The list of 'to-do's' for the year 2005 has got longer with each Patrol Leaders Council and we will have to appeal for more leaders to cope with the events listed so far, trips to Craigavon Ski-Slopes, Bowling Alley, Swimming Pool, Rathlin Island, cooking, camping, Captain Ball, Football, Hiking, etc. Hopefully we get enough time to fit them all in.
Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year from all of Derryloran Guides and Guiders!
