After "losing" 6 splendid Brownies, we started the term with 3 new recruits, leaving us with a unit of only 9! However, we are delighted to be able to report that all 6 have settled in at Guides - Celia, Laura, Lauren, Megan, Rachel and Rebecca we wish you well.
Our numbers may be small but what a fantastic bunch of Brownies we have, enthusiastic, full of energy, loud and lots of fun! We have already completed one badge - Disability Awareness, we thought how difficult it would be if we couldn't see, we practised writing our name using our feet, and how we struggled tying a knot using out teeth and toes. We learnt to spell our names using the finger spelling alphabet. All games we played were played with Disability Awareness in mind. This badge really did get the girls to appreciate how blessed we really are.
At the minute we are working on our Craft Badge - we've painted and varnished rocks, decorated biscuits and designed and made a Halloween outfit from bits and pieces. The older girls have also been creating invitation cards. Next year we plan to do our 1st Aid Badge with help of St. Johns Ambulance and travel to W5 Odyssey pavilion to take part in 2 workshops for the Science Investigators Badge.
Our Promise Celebrations will take place on Thursday 2nd December, when Chloe
Patterson, Olivia Armstrong and Tanika Speirs will make their Promise to become
Brownies. We look forward to welcoming them (officially) and seeing them become
part of our unit.
On the 28th October, the hall took on a spooky feel when it was filled with
unsavoury Characters-Ghouls, Ghosts, Witches and Dracula! We dunked for apples,
grabbed for apples, had a spider hunt and scared the Canon! oops sorry!
We finished with a scary story, a slime drink and some spooky treats!
We take this opportunity unfortunately, to say Goodbye and Thank You to Joanna McGlaughlin who has stepped down as Snowy after 5 years. We are sorry to be saying goodbye but are delighted Joanna is still our Pack Holiday Advisor. Thanks Joanna.
